I'm Mickie.
I live in Brooklyn
and am a writer of
many things.

Essays mostly, a lot of them personal and/or about the South, food, Southern food-adjacent topics. I also write fiction and hold an MFA from The New School in Creative Writing, where I was a Creative Writing Fellow.

Currently, I’m the Community Manager for Guernica magazine, creating events and readings and doing interviews. For things related to that, you can email me at mickie [at] guernicamag [dot] com.

I co-founded and co-host the New York reading series and writer's variety show, Same Page, every 2nd Wednesday of the month at KGB Bar. For submissions to that and the schedule of upcoming readings, see here.

By day, I'm a strategically-minded and creatively-driven copywriter with more than 7 years experience in the advertising and writing worlds, and work with an emphasis on rebranding. For more, you can see my copywriting page.

I do a weekly email newsletter, The Interwebs Weekly. Long and short web writing collected to stimulate your brain with stuff you might not see on your own. I have been told it's quite excellent.

I also write a wine and book-review blog called The Buzzed Word. It's completely unpretentious, born out of a funny, effusive Instagram series that people told me I should do something with.
